Dr. Monica Thoms
Comprehensive Ophthalmologist and Surgeon
Monica Thoms, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist. After graduating magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in 1978, she received medical training at the University of Illinois Medical School. She completed her residency at Micheal Reese Hospital/University of Chicago.
Dr. Thoms is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a medical staff member at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois. She has received the highest patient satisfaction rating on an independent survey comparing ophthalmologists in the Chicago area. According to Castle Connolly Guide, her peers recognize her as “one of the best doctors in the Chicago Metropolitan area.
Dr. OUSSAMA BOUNDAOUI, M.D.
Comprehensive Ophthalmologist and Medical Retinologist
Dr. Oussama Boundaoui is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained medical retina specialist. His surgical interests include laser-assisted premium cataract surgery, cataract surgery with multifocal lens implants, minimally-invasive glaucoma surgery, and eyelid surgery including blepharoplasty. He earned his medical degree from Rush University Medical Center in 2010. After completing a medical internship at Christ Hospital in Oaklawn, he completed his ophthalmology residency training at Northeast Ohio Medical University in Akron, Ohio where he served as chief resident. He subsequently completed subspecialty fellowship training at the Retina Institute of California, in which he focused on the evaluation and treatment of retinal disorders. He is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists, the Academy of Ophthalmology and a medical staff member at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.
RASHA ALI, M.D.
Comprehensive Ophthalmologist and Surgeon
Dr. Rasha Ali obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in English summa cum laude from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and also obtained her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She completed her residency in ophthalmology at the University of Texas Medical Branch, and went on to complete a cornea fellowship at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Ali treats ophthalmic conditions including, but not limited to, diabetic eye disease, ocular surface disease/dry eye, glaucoma, and uveitis. She performs traditional and refractive laser-assisted cataract surgery, corneal transplants, and others. She also has a special interest in peri-ocular aesthetic management i.e. cosmetic Botox, Restylane, etc. Dr. Ali believes in a compassionate approach to patient care, and enjoys the rapport she cultivates with each of her patients.
In her spare time she enjoys spending quality time with her family, calligraphy, painting, volunteering, and traveling.

JULIE CARLSON, O.D.
Optometrist
Julie Carlson is an Optometrist who practices comprehensive Optometry including the treatment and management of ocular disease. She has a great deal of experience in specialty contact lens fitting and enjoys the challenge. She joined the practice in 1995 and takes pride in the lasting relationships she has formed with her patients over the many years. Dr. Carlson is a graduate of the University of Michigan, majoring in Biology. She graduated Salutatorian of her class from the New England College of Optometry in 1993 and then went on to complete post doctoral training in the treatment and management of ocular disease. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Illinois Optometric Association. Julie enjoys playing tennis and traveling with her family.
Dr. Larry Auerbach
Comprehensive Ophthalmologist and Surgeon
Dr. Larry Auerbach has been a practicing ophthalmologist since 1984. He is a licensed physician and surgeon with The State of Illinois and a certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Auerbach graduated from University of Indiana with a bachelor’s degree and then went on to earn his medical degree from Chicago Medical School. He completed his medical internship at St. Joseph Hospital his residency at John H. Stroger Hospital in Chicago. He is currently on staff with Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights and Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago.
